The instrumental music department at Van Buren Local
Schools encompasses many grade levels so that students may
start to foster a lifetime of music opportunities.
Rick Eakin been the director for the past seventeen years. In that time, the Black Knight
Marching Band has been invited to numerous
prestigious events
including the Detroit Thanksgiving Parade, the
Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade and Pre-Race Pageant, the
Pro Football Hall of Fame Grand Parade, and the
Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The Concert Band has also
received acclamation, earning numerous trips to OMEA State
Contest and receiving two Superior ratings there.
