Welcome to Van Buren Elementary

Hello, I am Linda Frail in the Van Buren Preschool Classroom.  My background is in Elementary Education, and I went back to college to earn my Kindergarten degree and then a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education.  I grew up in northern West Virginia and have lived in several areas of Ohio with my husband, Todd.  I have 3 children who are grown now and 2 grandchildren too.  My family is all over the country so we travel a bit, especially in the summers.  I love to see historic sites and to be out of doors, and I also love to sit with a good book or work on creative projects.

We have a full time assistant in our room, Beth Courtney. This is her first year with us and we are all enjoying her skills working with young children. Beth has an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Owens.  She is married and has 3 boys, 14, 10, and 6 years old.  She has been a wonderful addition to our class.

We have 3 therapists who work with our children each week. We have a speech therapist, Donna Schmelzer: an occupational therapist, Judy Powell; and an adapted physical education therapist, Jana Amstutz.  We also have students from The University of Findlay who do their observation and student teaching times with us.  So we have may hands and love that.
