Welcome to Van Buren Elementary

Hello, I’m Mrs. Lafountain.  I am one of the 4th grade teachers here at Van Buren.  I teach reading to my homeroom students and math to all of the 4th graders.  The 2004/2005 school year is my ninth year at Van Buren.  I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Education K-8 from Bowling Green State University and I earned a Masters Degree in the Art of Education from Marygrove College

I have three children.  My oldest daughter is currently a junior at Wittenberg University studying Early Childhood Education.  My son is a senior at Findlay High School and is planning on attending the University of Cincinnati next fall to study Aeronautical Engineering.  My youngest daughter is currently an 8th grader at Donnell Middle School and is involved in volleyball, track, softball, Atomic Explosion, an 8th grade show choir, band, and Shockwave, an Indoor Drumline.  When my husband and I get the chance, we love to take our family on vacations to the mountains.

I feel very fortunate to be able to teach reading and math here at Van Buren with a wonderful team of teachers and great students.  Please read our 4th grade weekly newsletter, The Friday Flash, and check your child’s assignment notebook nightly for homework.  Send in a note, or call and let a message here at school, at 299-3416, if you have any questions, or information I should be aware of concerning your child.
