Welcome to Van Buren Elementary

My name is Cassie Ohlrich and I teach the VANTAGE (Van Buren’s Talented and Gifted Education) Program.  This is my 7th year teaching at Van Buren School and my 11th year teaching gifted students.  I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education 1-8 and Gifted Education K-12 from Kent State University.  I earned a Master’s Degree in Education concentrating on Administration and have an elementary and middle school principal’s license.  I live in Findlay with my husband Kurt and our two children.  Cole is seven and is attending first grade at Van Buren this year.  Connor is four and can’t wait to come to school with us soon.

VANTAGE is the name given to Van Buren Local Schools’ program for enriched and accelerated learning experiences.  The program is designed to help all children discover more about their learning.  I am a firm believer that it is important to reach out to all learners and provide services that meet their individual needs.  The VANTAGE program focuses on grades K-5.  The VANTAGE resource room begins in 3rd grade and ends in 5th grade.  Students in the middle school and high school receive accelerated services through appropriate class placements and post secondary options.
