Cathy Schuller (SHOE-ler) started as the Treasurer at Van Buren Schools in August. Prior to coming to Van Buren, Schuller earned her undergraduate degree at Defiance College and her graduate degree at the University of Findlay. She spent twelve years serving in county government as Deputy Auditor and also served several years as Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer in two prior districts, earning multiple Ohio Auditor of State Awards for performance with clean audits. Schuller currently serves as the president of the Northwest Ohio Association of School Business Officials.
Through all of the changes in school finance that occur each year, she said, “I thoroughly enjoy the many facets of school finance and the fast pace that surrounds it. I am passionate about public education, and the proper management of taxpayer dollars is crucial to ensure that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently. I am honored to serve as Van Buren’s Treasurer in an effort to positively impact the quality of education in the community.”
Schuller and her husband have two children, a dog, and two cats.
Schuller replaced Lisa Shanks, who served the district in an interim role during the 2023-2024 school year. Shanks did an excellent job filling the position last year, and we appreciate her service to Van Buren Schools.
