Transportation Department Earns 100% on Bus Inspections

Congratulations to Arian Keeran, transportation supervisor, and Jarrod Mellott, bus mechanic, for earning 100% passage for the bus inspections that took place on January 3 and 17, 2025.

During an inspection, a state transportation inspector checks the undercarriage, frame, drive shaft, exhaust, suspension, steering, brakes, tires, lights, body, seats, electrical switches and equipment, and safety equipment (emergency exits, flares, first aid kit, fire extinguisher) on each of the buses.

It takes approximately 20 minutes to inspect each bus, and buses are inspected every six months (approximately July and January every year). While these semiannual inspections are required by the state, transportation staff complete pre-trip checks every day to ensure all parts of the buses are in working order to affirm that students will be safely transported to and from school and extracurricular activities.

The excellence of the inspection results is a testament to the work Mellott does throughout the year to maintain the buses and the work Keeran does to oversee the entire transportation department.  Because of their hard work, students are ready to learn, and teachers can carry out the district’s mission of building thinkers, building experiences, and building connections every day.
