As part of local efforts to expand broadband internet access in rural areas, the Hancock County Commissioners and BGSU Center for Regional Development are seeking input from Hancock County residents through a brief online survey. This data will be crucial in securing grant funding to support broadband expansion projects in our area.
The survey is open to anyone 18 or older and will take approximately 3-4 minutes to complete.

Congrats to our twelve 5th grade finalists for the VBES Spelling Bee! Carter and Kency were our two finalists, and Carter will go on to represent VBES on Jan. 30th at the Hancock County Bee!

Congratulations to Adrienne Ebright and Josh Schroeder for placing first and second in the middle school spelling bee. As the winner, Adrienne advances to the Hancock County Spelling Bee on Thursday, January 30, at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts. She will also participate in an online bee in March to potentially qualify for the Northwest Ohio Championship Bee held in Toledo.
Thanks also go to the middle school staff for creating this opportunity to build thinkers, build connections, and build experiences.
Congratulations to K-5 STEAM teacher, assistant athletic director, and assistant track & field coach Brian Beining for earning the 2025 Northwest District Contributor Award from the Ohio Track & Field and Cross County Officials Association. He will receive his award at the OTFCCOA awards banquet on January 24.
We appreciate the work Mr. Beining does to build experiences for the students and athletes of Van Buren Local School District.
