Good Sunday to all of you! I hope all of you get a chance to play in the snow today! We will continue on the Modified Hybrid Schedule for the first week of February. We did receive notice that Van Buren staff will be receiving the vaccine sometime the week of February 22, 2021. No other specifics have been given at this point. There is a chance we will not have in person schooling on the day we receive the vaccine. I will let all of you know ASAP when I find out. Also, we do have two new board members! Welcome Andy Fisher and Laura Ebright to the Van Buren Team! Both accepted board appointments at the January Board of Education Meeting. Have a great week!
FRIDAY FINANCIAL FACT
With the onset of the pandemic, the Federal government specifically identified the need for school districts and other educational entities to keep students learning during unprecedented times.
The district was provided a few different avenues of funding to offer relief for not only the change in educational offerings for students, but relief from the additional standards and protocols for safety. We invested in distance learning, school nursing services, personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies and technology devices to keep our student learning and our entire community safe. Through the generosity of Marion, Cass and Portage Townships, the district purchased student devices to keep them connected to the district and touchless water bottle filling stations.
A big thank you to Marion, Cass and Portage Townships for their partnership in support of Van Buren students and staff! #VB1team

In the ninth episode of the Interviewing People careercast, Mr. Bratt interviews Macy McCartney, a 2012 graduate and Operations Manager at the ProMedica Toledo and Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospitals. In the episode, Macy talks about how she handles failure, how a biology degree led her to where she is today, the impact relationships have had on her career path, and the variety of positions in the healthcare field other than doctor and nurse. If there are any students out there interested in a career in healthcare, this would be a good episode for them to watch.
