The Van Buren Middle School National Junior Honor Society chapter inducts students in the fall during the Hancock County induction ceremony. Students are invited to apply for induction based on meeting the following criteria:

• During seventh grade, maintained a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA in language arts, math, science, and social studies

• Had no disciplinary issues in seventh grade
