VBMS eNews - March 2020
Van Buren Middle School
Good afternoon VBMS families,
This is an unprecedented time in our world and I appreciate the continued cooperation of our students, staff, community, and families. While we hope we've covered all of our bases, it's likely that details have been overlooked. Please contact myself or staff if there's something that is unclear. We are literally writing the protocol and procedures day-by-day, most of which is based on decisions made at the state and potentially federal level.
Most importantly, we want to support our kids and maintain some level of "normal". Please encourage your child to check out the daily VBMS@home video announcements. Additionally, we recognize the importance of students hearing and seeing their teachers, which is why most classes will meet in some video format at least once a week.
If you or your family is in need of either emotional support, food or anything else, please contact me. Family Resource Center has also posted resources for families on their website: https://www.frcohio.com/covid19
Let's take care of each-other,
Jay Clark
8th Grade Washington, DC Trip
At this point, our 8th grade Washington, DC trip will not occur May 20-22, 2020, as initially scheduled. I've been in communication with Prodigy Student Travel and we're working to reschedule this trip to the fall - this allows families to not lose any of their payments and more importantly, allows the class of 2024 to experience this awesome experiential learning opportunity. More details will be available soon.
Food Available for Families
The district is working with a number of generous donors to ensure that we can provide food to families in need over the school closure. Non-perishable food bags will be available Mondays and Thursdays 10am-2pm outside the MS/HS office.
