ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Power of the Pen District Competition 7th and 8th grade Power of the Pen team members competed remotely in a district-wide imaginative/creative writing contest on Saturday, February 6, 2021. The 7th grade team members were Emily Bishop, Maddie Hudok, Jordan Rinker, and Josalyn Swaisgood. Kumar Birlangi, Veer Mehta, Emalee Noel, and Rylee Orchard competed on the 8th grade team. The teams are coached by Karen Dishong. The results are now in for our northwest district competition. Out of 66 students writing in 7th grade, Maddie Hudok placed 4th overall. Maddie Hudok and Rylee Orchard have qualified for the regional competition. The Lourdes University online tournament will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2021, with Anna-Marie Adamson of Toledo School for the Arts hosting, although no activities will take place on the Lourdes University Campus. Middle School Play: Auditions for the middle school play, Dorothy’s Disaster, are being held from March 1st through March 5th. The play will NOT interfere with track. You are welcome to join both. Interested in performing?

TODAY during unplugged, Mr. Bunn will be stopping in the classrooms for Track Sign-up for 7th and 8th graders. Make sure you sign up on final forms to be registered and get all the updated emails.

Did you know that Friends of Rachel sponsors a food pantry for students here at school? Rachel's pantry is fully stocked with non-perishable food items for families in need. Please reach out to your homeroom teacher if you are interested and they can contact someone who will send you home with food.

Van Buren FFA Canned Food Drive Raffle The Van Buren FFA Chapter is hosting a canned food drive raffle! This is taking place this week and will end on Friday February 26th, at 1:00PM. For every 2 cans your student brings in, they will have their name placed in a raffle, the more cans you bring in, the high chance you have of possibly winning one of the following prizes: 1st drawing- $25 Chick-fil-A gift card 2nd drawing- Limited Edition VB Sweatshirt 3rd drawing- Candy Basket
Please no dented or expired cans! All cans will be collected at school entrances during the week of February 22.

LUNCH TODAY:

- All students are eligible to receive free school lunches (a regular lunch) as a result of the federal school lunch program waiver made possible through the CARES act. Additionally, any students purchasing a regular school lunch since the start of the school year will have that lunch cost refunded to their lunch account in the coming weeks.
