Tricia Valasek, executive director of Raise the Bar Hancock County, visited Van Buren today to talk about the opportunities students could have if they participate in Raise the Bar's apprenticeship program. D.S. Brown Company, Kalmbach Feeds Inc., Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, and Hitachi Astemo are all looking for apprentices, and this provided students with an opportunity to learn more about the companies and what they want to see in their apprentices. Anyone who would like to learn more about the apprenticeship opportunities can visit https://www.raisethebarhancock.org/future-mfg-apprentice.

Good afternoon to all of you. 1. On our website, you will see the board approved calendar for the 2022-23 school year. I thank all of you that gave feedback. A lot of changes have happened since the draft calendar. 2. The CDC is exercising its enforcement discretion to not require people wear masks on buses or vans operated by public school systems. So, wearing a mask on public school transportation is now a choice for parents and students. 3. On our website there is a link on our front page called Van Buren Facilities Master Planning. This is a group made up of parents, community members and staff to look at what options are available for our 6-12 building. We have met on two occasions and will meet again on March 30, 2022. If you would like to be a part of this group, please let me know. The ultimate goal of this group is to make a recommendation to our board of education on what to do with the 6-12 building moving forward. Have a great rest of your Sunday! If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library Bookmobile will be at Van Buren on Monday, February 28, from 11:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. Middle and high school students can visit the bookmobile during their lunch periods, so if students have a FHCPL card, please be sure they have their cards so they can check out books. Students can also place holds on books using the FHCPL website (www.findlaylibrary.org) and pick those up on the bookmobile as long as they identify the bookmobile as the pick-up location (they still need to have their library cards with them). Students who don't have library cards can visit the library in Findlay (206 Broadway St.) to register for a card. Parents must be present with their children and have two forms of identification (one must be a photo ID). The bookmobile will also be making stops at the school from 11:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. on March 14 & 28, April 11 & 25, and May 9 & 23.
